Wildlife Corridors & Habitat Connectivity (2D)
2D top-down companion: a road splits one animal population into two patches, and an adjustable wildlife corridor restores safe crossings, gene flow and long-term population health between them.
This 2D companion drives the same habitat-fragmentation model as the 3D version, viewed straight down: a road splits one forest into two patches, and dispersing animals either cross a green wildlife corridor safely or risk the open road, where traffic can kill them. Genetic health recovers with each safe arrival and decays when a patch sits isolated, which throttles that patch's birth rate — turn the corridor to zero and watch a fragment quietly decline.
2D top-down habitat-connectivity model: agent-based dispersal, corridor-vs-road crossing risk, and a genetic-health variable that gates logistic population growth per patch.
