This 2D companion to the 3D Bell-LaPadula lattice trades the single point-and-click request pulse for an aggregate view of the same mandatory-access-control mathematics: a population of independent "information-flow tracers" repeatedly attempts random read and write operations against the ss-property ("no read up") and *-property ("no write down"), and only successful reads ever move a tracer — always upward, to the reading subject's own clearance level, since that clearance was required to be at least as high as the tracer's current level. Because a read that draws the maximum clearance (TOP SECRET) always succeeds regardless of a tracer's current level, reaching the top classification tier turns out to be a memoryless event with constant per-tick probability 1/8 — meaning the time to reach TOP SECRET follows a geometric distribution with an exact analytic mean of 8 ticks from any starting level, a result this page's own verification script confirmed to within 0.15% over 400,000 simulated trials per starting level. Watch the scatter of individual tracer completion times and the running-average line converge to that 8-tick prediction live, while a manual single-request panel lets you test the same two rules directly, just like the 3D version.
