Dark Matter Halo Around a Galaxy — Rotation Curve (3D)
A 3D spiral galaxy whose stars orbit under gravity from both the visible disk and a spherical dark-matter halo — toggle the halo off and watch the rotation curve fall off Keplerian instead of staying flat.
Real spiral galaxies rotate almost as fast at their edge as they do near the core — far faster than the visible stars and gas alone could explain by Keplerian gravity. This simulator renders a 3D galaxy of orbiting stars and computes each one's circular speed from the combined gravity of an exponential visible disk and an adjustable spherical dark-matter halo, plotting the resulting rotation curve live so you can toggle the halo and watch the curve change shape.
A 3D galaxy of orbiting stars whose rotation curve stays flat with an adjustable dark-matter halo but falls off Keplerian when the halo is toggled off — drag to orbit, click a star, and reshape the visible and halo mass sliders.
