Review-Gating Bias Simulator

Interactive 3D simulation of in-app 'smart' rating prompts: watch simulated users get routed to a public store rating or a private feedback form based on a satisfaction gate, and see live how gating skews the public score away from the true population mean.

Many mobile apps use a "smart" in-app rating dialog that privately asks users whether they're enjoying the app before deciding what to do next: happy users get routed to the public app-store rating, unhappy users get quietly diverted to a private feedback form. This simulator streams a population of users, each with a hidden satisfaction score drawn from a normal distribution, through exactly that gate in real time. Watch the true distribution split into a green stream (public store) and a red stream (private feedback), and compare the live public rating against the true population mean — with gating on, the public number climbs well above reality, exactly the pattern Apple's App Store guidelines call out and forbid.

⚙ Under the hood

An interactive 3D simulation of the 'smart' in-app rating prompt: simulated users with a hidden satisfaction score are routed either to the public app-store rating or a private feedback form based on a gate threshold, showing live how this review-gating pattern skews the public score above the true population mean.
