Brooks's Law Team-Scaling Simulator

Interactive 2D simulation of Brooks's Law: add engineers to a running project and watch the burn-down curve respond day by day, as communication overhead (O(n^2) pairwise links) and newcomer ramp-up/mentoring costs fight against the extra raw capacity — the classic 'adding people to a late project makes it later' dynamic, modeled over time instead of estimated as a single number.

Fred Brooks's famous rule from The Mythical Man-Month says that throwing more engineers at a late project only makes it later — but the reason is a genuine dynamic, not folklore: new hires need ramp-up time and mentoring from the people already there, and every additional person adds communication links that scale roughly with team size, not project size. This simulator runs a real day-by-day burn-down of a work backlog under two scenarios — the original team left alone, and the same team with a batch of new hires added on a chosen day — so you can watch the two curves diverge and see for yourself whether a given hire helps, barely matters, or actively pushes the finish line back, instead of reading a single static cost estimate.

A day-by-day 2D burn-down simulation of Brooks's Law: add engineers to a running project and watch communication overhead and newcomer ramp-up/mentoring costs compete against the extra raw capacity, sometimes finishing sooner and sometimes finishing later than if the team had been left alone.
