Crash Fingerprint Clustering Simulator (2D)

A 2D top-down bar-chart view of the stack-trace fingerprint hashing that crash-reporting tools (Crashlytics, Sentry, Bugsnag) use to group crash reports into issues, and how fingerprint depth and symbolication noise cause over- or under-fragmentation.

A top-down 2D companion to the crash-fingerprinting simulator: mobile crash-reporting tools never show developers raw crash logs one at a time — they run every incoming stack trace through a fingerprinting step that hashes the top frames and buckets matching crashes into a single "issue", which is how a fleet producing thousands of crashes a day still lets an engineer triage a short, prioritized list. This canvas view draws that hashing-and-bucketing algorithm as a live bar chart: synthetic crash reports fall from a fixed set of hidden root causes onto the bar for their computed fingerprint, each carrying a stack trace that is deterministic but subject to a tunable symbolication-noise probability, and the fingerprint-depth control shows in real time how choosing too few frames wrongly merges distinct bugs while too many frames (or too much noise) fractures one real bug into dozens of phantom issues. Live readouts track total crashes processed, the true count of unique algorithmic clusters, and crash-free users — the release-health percentage every mobile team watches after a rollout.
