Android Process Priority & Low-Memory Killer Simulator (2D)
Interactive 2D simulator of Android's app lifecycle importance tiers (Foreground, Visible, Service, Background, Empty) and the Low-Memory Killer that evicts processes by oom_adj priority as free RAM drops. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom.
Android never lets an app decide its own fate: every running process carries an importance score — Foreground, Visible, Service, Background (cached) or Empty — and the system's Low-Memory Killer sweeps from least to most important, evicting whichever process crosses its tier's free-memory threshold first. This 2D sibling renders the same live population of app processes as five stacked importance bands, grows their memory footprint over time, and runs the identical minfree-staircase eviction algorithm so you can watch exactly which app gets killed, and why, as free RAM drops — then bring an app back to the foreground to rescue it before the killer reaches it. Drag to pan and scroll to zoom the tier view.
A 2D sibling of the Android process-lifecycle simulator: five stacked importance-tier bands (Foreground, Visible, Service, Background, Empty) hold live app processes that grow in memory over time, while the same minfree-staircase Low-Memory Killer algorithm evicts the largest process in the least important tier whenever free RAM crosses that tier's threshold. Drag to pan and scroll to zoom the tier view; click any process tile or list row to bring it to the foreground and rescue it from eviction.
