Developmental Growth Tree Simulator
Interactive 3D model of cognitive development across Piaget's stages: tune stimulation and caregiver nurture to watch a growth tree climb through sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete-operational and formal-operational milestones -- or stall and regress when support is missing.
Human cognitive development is often described as a sequence of qualitatively different stages — from an infant's sensorimotor exploration to an adolescent's capacity for abstract, hypothetical reasoning. This simulator renders that sequence as a growing tree: a trunk rises as simulated years pass, and four nodes light up as sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete-operational and formal-operational milestones are reached. Progress through each stage depends on a combination of environmental stimulation and caregiver nurture; when nurture drops too low for too long, already-reached progress can wither and regress, echoing how attachment security and chronic neglect shape real developmental trajectories. Adjust stimulation, nurture and the passage of time to see how supportive or impoverished conditions bend the growth curve.
