🧪 Climate Climate Adaptation Simulation
Interactive 3D city model: retrofit cool roofs, plant tree canopy and lay reflective pavement to fight the urban heat island. A surface energy-balance model computes real city temperature, UHI intensity and heat-stress risk as you adapt the built environment.
Cities run hotter than the countryside around them because dark roofs, asphalt and a lack of vegetation soak up sunlight faster than they can shed it. This simulator builds a 3D city block of 130 buildings and lets you apply three real adaptation strategies — reflective cool roofs, tree canopy, and light-coloured pavement — while a surface energy-balance model recomputes each building's temperature, the city's overall urban heat island intensity, and its heat-stress risk category in real time, so you can see exactly how much adaptation it takes to pull a city back toward its rural baseline during a heat wave.
This simulation demonstrates the impact of various climate adaptation strategies on a simulated environment. It allows users to test different approaches and observe their effectiveness in mitigating risks associated with changing weather patterns.
