🚇 Urban Tunnelling Lab: Cutterhead Torque, Advance Rate and Tunnel Traffic Capacity

Small-diameter urban tunnelling: cutterhead torque and thrust from specific energy, stop-and-go versus continuous-support advance rate, face stability, ground settlement trough, and the traffic capacity of a single-lane tunnel with manual and platooned vehicles. A Blender-built, Three.js teaching model.

Performance lab for a small-diameter urban tunnel boring machine: cutterhead torque and power from specific energy, stop-and-go versus continuous ring-erection advance rate, face-support pressure, the ground settlement trough, and the car-following capacity of a single-lane tunnel compared with a metro and a road lane in persons per hour. Unlike the existing tunnel-boring, tunnel-boring-ground and hard-rock-tbm pages, it centres on performance numbers and the traffic throughput of the finished tube; illustrative parameters, inspired by publicly described urban tunnelling.
