Supercooled Water: Instant Freeze (3D)
Full 3D simulation of supercooled water — orbit a flask chilled below 0°C without freezing, then click to trigger a real nucleation front that propagates through the volume, releasing latent heat tracked as the temperature rises back toward 0°C.
This is a full 3D, orbit-anywhere model of a flask of pure water chilled below 0 °C without freezing. As the temperature drops past the freezing point the water stays liquid — a real metastable supercooled state — until you click inside the flask to trigger nucleation. A genuine crystal front then grows outward through the water volume, releasing latent heat that visibly warms the remaining liquid back toward 0 °C as it advances and self-limits, exactly the energy balance behind real "instant freeze" bottle demonstrations. Raise the impurity/nucleation-site density and the flask may freeze on its own before you ever click it. Drag to orbit and scroll to zoom in on the growing front.
Chill pure water below 0°C in 3D without it freezing, then click to trigger a real nucleation front that spreads through the volume as latent heat warms it back toward 0°C.
