Reactor Residence-Time Distribution Lab — 2D Process-Flow Diagram
A 2D process-flow-diagram twin of the CSTR / PFR / N-tanks-in-series residence-time lab: watch tracer particles flow through a schematic reactor network and converge to the theoretical exit-age distribution E(t).
This 2D companion renders the CSTR / PFR / N-tanks-in-series reactor as a flat, pannable process-flow schematic instead of a 3D vessel: tanks and pipes are drawn as discs and rectangles on a diagram, and tracer particles execute the same underlying stochastic escape law — a 2D random walk inside each tank with a memoryless dt/τ exit probability, or deterministic advance for the plug-flow pipe — while a scrolling strip chart records every individual exit age as a dot alongside the running histogram. Adjust the flow rate Q, injection rate, and number of tanks N to watch the measured mean and variance converge on the theoretical exponential, delta-spike, or Erlang distribution in real time.
Watch tracer particles flow through a 2D process-flow-diagram reactor — CSTR, PFR, or an N-tanks-in-series cascade — as a scrolling strip chart and live histogram converge on the theoretical exit-age distribution E(t).
