🧪 Social Media Social Media Crisis Simulation
Interactive 3D network simulator: watch a false claim spread through a social graph as a threshold-driven contagion, race a fact-check against it, and see how influencer hubs, virality and response speed change whether the crisis burns out or takes over.
This simulation models how a false claim tears through a social network and whether a fact-check can catch it. A 240-account small-world graph — a handful of high-degree "hub" accounts wired into many shortcuts, like real influencer networks — carries two competing contagions: the claim itself, spreading node-to-node at a virality rate you control, and a correction that only starts after a response delay you set. Watch believing nodes turn red as the crisis unfolds, then green as the fact-check catches up, and see directly how response speed and hub amplification decide whether the crisis burns out early or takes over the network before anyone can correct it.
This interactive simulation demonstrates how a crisis unfolds on social media, focusing on the rapid spread of misinformation and the importance of effective response strategies.
