Hydraulic Crush Press: Force, Pressure & Piston Area (2D)
2D hydraulic press lab: drive a car-body crush test from first principles — force = pressure x piston area, ram speed = flow rate / piston area — and watch a live force-vs-displacement crush curve for three vehicle structures.
This 2D companion drives the same hydraulic crush test as the 3D version from first principles instead of appearance: a side panel exposes system pressure, piston bore diameter and pump flow rate as independent hydraulic inputs, so the force capacity (pressure × piston area) and ram speed (flow ÷ piston area) update live as you drag each slider. A quasi-static elastic-plastic crush model — matching the shape of real vehicle-body load-deflection curves — turns those inputs into a live force-versus-displacement curve for three distinct vehicle structures, making the physics of "why a bigger piston pushes harder but slower" directly visible instead of implied.
