FDM 3D Printer Simulator (2D)
Interactive 2D cross-section of an FDM 3D printer: watch the nozzle trace each layer while the bed and gantry move in X/Y/Z, and tune layer height, print speed and nozzle temperature.
This 2D side-view cross-section shows an FDM 3D printer building a vase-shaped object layer by layer: the nozzle sweeps across X to trace each layer's outline, the bed steps in Y, and the gantry lifts by one layer height in Z whenever a layer finishes. Adjust the layer height to trade print resolution for speed, change the print speed to see the nozzle move faster or slower, and tune the nozzle temperature to keep extrusion in its sweet spot — too cold under-extrudes with gaps, too hot strings and droops. Live readouts track the current layer, overall progress and an estimated time remaining computed from the actual path length and settings.
Watch an FDM 3D printer's cross-section build an object layer by layer, tuning layer height, print speed and nozzle temperature to see their effect on quality and time.
