🔬 Crystal Genesis: Diffusion-Limited Crystal Growth (2D)
A diffusion-limited-aggregation crystal-growth lab: random-walking solute particles nucleate and stick to a growing lattice, with live sticking-probability, mobility, seed-count and growth-rate controls.
This 2D companion replaces the original's decorative falling-shard WebGL scene with the mechanic its title actually promises: a genuine diffusion-limited-aggregation (DLA) crystal-growth model. One or more seed nuclei sit at the centre of a supersaturated field, and solute particles random-walk in from a launch ring, freezing onto the growing lattice with a tunable sticking probability. A side panel exposes sticking probability, particle mobility (temperature), the number of concurrently diffusing walkers and the number of nucleation sites, while a live readout tracks cluster mass, radius, radius of gyration and an estimated fractal dimension computed from the mass–radius scaling law — so you can watch open, branching dendrites emerge at high sticking probability and dense, compact crystal habit emerge at low sticking probability, the same trade-off that governs real crystal morphology under different supersaturation conditions.
