Cross-Bridge Cycling & the Muscle Force–Velocity Relationship
Zoom into a sarcomere and watch myosin heads attach, power-stroke and detach from actin filaments. Sweep contraction velocity and see fewer heads stay attached, force fall, and your setting trace out the real inverse force-velocity curve.
A zoomed-in sarcomere: myosin heads on the central thick filament attach to the surrounding actin filaments, execute a power stroke, detach and reset in a continuous cross-bridge cycle that ratchets the actin inward and shortens the sarcomere. Sweep the contraction-velocity control to see how many heads can stay attached through a full stroke at any instant, and watch the live force readout and force–velocity curve respond.
Zoom into a 3D sarcomere and watch individual myosin heads attach to actin, execute a power stroke and detach in a continuous cross-bridge cycle. Sweep a contraction-velocity control and see fewer heads stay attached at high speed, force drop, and your setting trace out the real inverse force-velocity curve.
