🔬 What It Demonstrates

Genetic diversity in a population of colonies erodes as hives collapse. A gene bank reserve — cryopreserved queens or semen for each rare line — lets breeders reintroduce a lost line before it disappears everywhere, exactly as real conservation apiaries do.

🎮 How to Use

Adjust collapse risk and restock chance, toggle the gene bank on or off, and watch the diversity index and lost-lines counter respond. Use "Force a collapse" to stress-test recovery, or turn the gene bank off to see how quickly rare lines vanish without it.

Conservation breeding groups maintain isolated mating apiaries and cryopreserved semen banks specifically to protect native honeybee subspecies from being diluted or wiped out after regional colony losses.
