Organoid Growth Simulator (2D)

2D top-down companion: the same stem-cell colony grid growing and differentiating under a growth-factor cocktail and matrix scaffold support, viewed flat instead of orbited — cell colour tracks local height, a bright ring marks each cell once it crosses the differentiation threshold.

The 3D version of this lab orbits a camera over an instanced-mesh colony grid rising out of a dark culture dish. This 2D companion drives the exact same growth model — height(t+1) = height(t) + cocktail × proliferation × scaffoldSupport — but samples the colony straight from above: each cell is a flat tile whose colour brightens as its local height grows, and a white ring appears once that cell's growth crosses the 0.75 differentiation threshold, so the maturing organoid reads as a spreading pattern of lit tiles instead of a rising 3D terrain. The same four levers apply — colony grid resolution, differentiation target, growth factor cocktail strength and matrix scaffold support — and the live readouts (mean colony height, peak differentiation, percent differentiated, target coverage) update every frame exactly as they do in the 3D lab, so the two views can be compared side by side.

⚙ Under the hood

A 2D companion to the 3D Organoid Growth Simulator: a flat, top-down stem-cell colony grid driven by the same growth-factor-cocktail and scaffold-support model, with per-cell colour and ring encoding for height and differentiation.
