PET-Degrading Enzyme Kinetics: Time-Course Simulator
2D Michaelis-Menten kinetics companion to the 3D engineered PET hydrolase scene: a lattice-erosion model driven by a corrected Arrhenius/thermal-equilibrium activity curve, plotting real-time depolymerization rate and cumulative monomer yield as you tune temperature, enzyme concentration and protein-engineering level.
This is the 2D time-course companion to the 3D engineered PET hydrolase scene. It keeps the same lattice-erosion mechanic — enzyme molecules hunting for exposed PET units and cleaving ester bonds into terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol monomers — but renders it as a cheap top-down cross-section and, crucially, graphs the depolymerization rate and cumulative monomer yield as rolling strip charts over time, something the 3D scene never shows. It also adds a protein-engineering-level control modeling what real directed-evolution campaigns changed about enzymes like FAST-PETase: a higher thermal-stability ceiling and a boosted catalytic turnover, on top of a corrected thermal-equilibrium model that now produces a genuine bell-shaped temperature optimum.
An interactive Michaelis-Menten kinetics simulator of engineered PET hydrolase depolymerizing plastic, plotting real-time depolymerization rate and cumulative monomer yield as you tune temperature, enzyme concentration and protein-engineering level.
