Looking for 10 hours of white noise? We don't have a single 10-hour recording — we have something that works better for an unpredictable night: white noise synthesised live in your browser that loops seamlessly for as long as you need, with no download, no buffering, and no audible loop point.

Why We Don't Sell You a "10-Hour File"

Set our built-in sleep timer if you'd like the sound to fade out automatically — it currently offers up to 2 hours per session (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 90 min, or 2 hours). For a full 10-hour overnight session, either leave the timer off and let the white noise run continuously all night, or simply reset the 2-hour timer if you stir. Either way, you get true unlimited-length white noise — no 10-hour ceiling, because there was never a fixed-length file to begin with.

When to Use a Long White Noise Session

💡 Tip: Start at 60% volume. If you want the sound to end automatically rather than run all night, set the sleep timer to its maximum (2 hours) — you can always restart it if you wake up.

Frequently asked questions

Full night's sleep

Leave the sleep timer off and let the white noise loop continuously from lights-out to morning — no restart, no gap.

Overnight travel or flights

Works entirely offline once loaded (this is a Progressive Web App), so a long flight or train journey is no problem.

Long study or work sessions

Pair with focus mode for multi-hour deep-work blocks without the sound ever noticeably restarting.

Shared or noisy housing

A steady multi-hour white noise backdrop masks intermittent noise from housemates, traffic, or neighbours throughout the night.

Is this an actual 10-hour white noise recording?

No — and we'd rather tell you that upfront than sell you something misleading. There's no fixed-length audio file here. Our white noise is synthesised live in your browser using the Web Audio API and loops seamlessly, with no beginning or end to notice. That means it can run for 10 hours, all night, or however long you want, without ever restarting, buffering, or repeating an audible loop-point the way a downloaded MP3 would.

So how do I get 10 hours of white noise?

Just press play and leave it running — the sound doesn't stop on its own unless you set a sleep timer. If you'd like it to fade out automatically rather than run all night, our built-in sleep timer currently offers up to 2 hours (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 90 min, or 2 hours). For a full 10-hour night, either leave the timer off and let it run continuously, or simply restart the 2-hour timer if you wake briefly.

Why not just offer an actual 10-hour audio file?

A looping synthesis engine has real advantages over a fixed recording: no download size, no buffering partway through the night, no audible seam where a file loops back to its start, and no data usage after the page loads. The tradeoff is that we don't have a literal single 10-hour timer toggle yet — we'd rather be upfront about that than imply otherwise.

Will the sound repeat or have an audible loop point after a few hours?

No. Unlike a recorded loop (which eventually repeats an identical audio segment), our white noise is generated in real time from continuously varying random signal — there's no fixed segment to notice repeating, whether you listen for 10 minutes or 10 hours.

What volume should I use for a 10-hour overnight session?

Start around 50-60% and adjust to taste. For all-night use, a lower, steady volume is generally more comfortable than a loud one — sleep researchers commonly suggest keeping ambient sound around 50-60 dB, similar to a quiet conversation.

Can I combine white noise with other sounds for a longer session?

Yes — the Sound Mixer lets you layer white noise with rain, brown noise, or any of our 67 synthesised sounds, each with independent volume control. A popular all-night combination is white noise with a touch of gentle rain.

Does this work if I fall asleep with headphones on?

It works either way, but for extended overnight use most people find speakers more comfortable than headphones, which can shift or become uncomfortable during sleep. Speakers also let the sound work as ambient room noise rather than something you have to keep wearing.

Does the sound use data or drain my battery over 10 hours?

After the page first loads, no audio data is streamed or downloaded — everything is generated locally by the Web Audio API, so there's no ongoing data usage. Battery use depends on your device and screen brightness; for long overnight sessions on a phone, consider dimming the screen or using 'Do Not Disturb' rather than closing the browser tab (closing the tab will stop playback).

Is this free, and does it work offline?

Yes to both — there's no account, no ads, and no fixed session length. ASMR Sanctuary is also a Progressive Web App, so after your first visit the white noise continues to work without an internet connection.

What's the difference between this page and the regular White Noise page?

Our main White Noise page covers white noise broadly for sleep, focus and masking. This page exists specifically for anyone searching for a long, uninterrupted overnight session — the sound engine is exactly the same, but here we explain honestly how the endless loop and sleep timer work together to give you effectively unlimited playback, including a full 10-hour night.

Try it live

Everything above runs in your browser — open Sleep Wind-Down and change the parameters while it is running. Nothing is installed, nothing is uploaded, the whole model lives in one tab.
