Shoebill Ambush: Sit-and-Wait Predation Model (2D)

2D shoebill ambush-hunting lab: a probabilistic sit-and-wait predation model where detection range, strike trigger distance, strike speed and energy budget all trade off — tune them and watch strike success rate and energy respond.

This 2D companion replaces the 3D scene's decorative wading loop with the real mechanism behind shoebill hunting: a probabilistic sit-and-wait ambush model driven by detection radius, strike-trigger distance, strike windup speed and a per-strike energy budget, with a live readout of strikes attempted, catches, success rate and energy so the cost/benefit trade-off of patience versus turbidity is directly measurable instead of implied.

⚙ Under the hood

2D sit-and-wait predation lab: detection radius shrinks with water turbidity, strike-trigger distance shrinks with patience, strike windup speeds up (and costs more energy) with strike speed, and hit probability falls off with distance-at-strike — with a live strikes/catches/success-rate/energy readout.
