Reindeer Migration Lab — 2D Herd & Blizzard
A top-down 2D companion to the 3D tundra scene: a lead bull makes straight for the pasture while the rest of the herd follows its line and holds separation, a blizzard scatters the route with noise, and a stronger leader instinct straightens it back out — the same seasonal migration read as a clean overhead map with live distance, density and speed readouts.
This 2D companion strips the migration scene down to an overhead view of the same herd-following behavior driving the 3D version: a single lead bull makes straight for a distant pasture while the rest of the herd tracks its line of travel and keeps a comfortable separation from its neighbours, with calves tucking closer to the group's centre. A blizzard slider injects random noise into every animal's heading — including the leader's — scattering the route and slowing the whole herd down; raising the leader-influence slider damps that noise and pulls the herd back onto a straight line even when the storm is strong, matching the 3D original's own framing that a stronger leader instinct evens out the route despite poor visibility. When the herd reaches the pasture a new one appears in a fresh direction and the migration continues. A live readout panel tracks the remaining distance to the pasture, a density figure derived from how tightly the herd is currently spread, and the herd's average travel speed — the same signals the 3D version exposes, but readable at a glance without orbiting a camera.
2D top-down migration lab: a lead-follow herd model with separation, blizzard-driven route noise damped by a leader-influence parameter, calves that tuck toward the herd centroid, and a live distance/density/speed readout panel.
