Separation Anxiety Stress Timeline (2D)

A 2D stress-response model for a dog left home alone: stress rises toward a ceiling on an exponential time constant, and departure training plus enrichment lower both the ceiling and the rate of rise. Adjust absence duration and watch the live timeline unfold.

This 2D companion strips the 3D room scene down to the model that actually drives a dog's stress while home alone: an exponential rise toward a ceiling set by a time constant τ, stress(t) = ceiling × (1 − e^(−t/τ)), where t is minutes alone. Departure training and enrichment each lower the ceiling and lengthen τ independently, so toggling them apart shows which lever does more for a given absence length. Training also unlocks short "practice" door-openings during the absence — brief dips shaded green on the live strip-chart — mirroring the graduated desensitization exercises real trainers use. A side-view room shows the dog's pacing amplitude and tail posture responding to the same stress value driving the chart, so the number and the behavior stay visibly in sync.

⚙ Under the hood

2D stress-response timeline: an exponential curve toward a ceiling on a time constant τ, both shifted by departure-training and enrichment toggles, with periodic desensitization "practice" dips and post-0.25 oscillation bursts layered on top; a live strip-chart plots the exact curve minutes-alone by minutes-alone alongside a pacing room scene.
