Antelope Herd Flocking (2D)

2D top-down antelope-herd boids lab: real cohesion / alignment / separation rules drive up to 220 animals, click the field to trigger a panic flee, and a live polarization readout shows how ordered the herd's motion is.

This 2D companion strips the antelope herd's flocking mechanic out of its 3D savanna scene into a plain top-down view built for reading the boids algorithm rather than orbiting a landscape: each of up to 220 animals steers by three independent rules — cohesion toward nearby herd-mates, alignment with their average heading, and separation from anyone too close — and you can weight each rule separately with the side-panel sliders. Clicking the field drops a predator-fear point that spreads through the herd exactly like the alarm did in the 3D version, and a live polarization readout (0% = a disordered mill, 100% = every animal facing the same way) turns the herd's transition from grazing to a coordinated stampede into a number you can watch rise in real time.
