Ankylosaur Ring Defense: Gap & Tail-Club Impact Simulator (2D)
Interactive 2D companion to the 3D ankylosaur armor circle: a top-down herd holds a defensive ring while a predator hunts for the widest gap between neighbours, tests it, and either gets thrown back by a real tail-club momentum impact or breaches through if the ring is too loose.
The 3D Ankylosaurus Armor Circle Lab animates a herd huddling together but never shows what actually decides whether an attack gets through. This 2D companion strips the ring down to its real mechanics: each ankylosaur holds one angular slot around the herd, drifting under noise and snapping back with a spring whose stiffness is set by ring discipline. A predator continuously scans the ring for its current widest gap and, at a rate set by its aggression, charges that exact point. If the gap is too narrow, the charge ends in a real momentum-reflecting tail-club impact that throws the predator back outward; if the herd let the gap open too far, the predator breaches straight through. Herd size, aggression and discipline are all live — watch how a looser ring trades a higher breach rate for animals that tire less from constant repositioning.
