African Wild Dog Relay Hunt (2D)
Top-down African wild dog pack hunt: dogs take turns leading a high-speed chase while the rest of the pack trots behind conserving stamina, relaying the lead role whenever the current chaser tires — the real endurance-relay strategy behind the species' unusually high hunt success rate.
This 2D companion strips the 3D African wild dog scene down to the one mechanic that makes the species' hunting famous: relay pursuit. Instead of one predator chasing until it either catches its prey or gives up, the pack rotates the lead-chaser role — the current leader sprints hard and tires, a fresher packmate takes over the moment it slows, and the cycle repeats until the prey's own stamina runs out from sustained pressure. A pack-size slider shows the real ecological payoff of cooperation directly: more dogs mean more simultaneous flanking pressure, faster prey exhaustion, and a measurably higher hunt success rate — watch the stamina bars and the live success-rate counter to see the strategy actually working.
Top-down 2D pack-hunting simulation where wild dogs relay the active-chaser role by stamina — the leader sprints and tires, the freshest packmate takes over, and encirclement pressure from flanking dogs drains the prey's stamina until capture or escape.
