🧪 Ultimate Technology Reality Simulation Simulation
A 3D cellular-automaton universe that only computes and renders the cells inside an observer's bubble, everything else freezes — an interactive model of the resource-conservation argument behind the simulation hypothesis.
A concrete model of the simulation hypothesis' resource-conservation argument: a 3D cellular automaton — Carter Bays' "4555" rule, the 3D analogue of Conway's Game of Life — runs on an 18³ lattice, but in Observer-limited mode only the cells inside a movable "observation bubble" are actually recomputed each generation. Everything outside freezes exactly where it was, the same way a game engine stops simulating physics outside the camera frustum. Live readouts track the generation count, how many cells are alive, how many were actually recomputed this step, and what percentage of the whole universe is currently being kept self-consistent — switch to Full omniscient mode to see the cost of simulating everything, everywhere, all the time.
This simulation explores the concept of simulating reality itself – creating increasingly complex models that mimic our world. It’s a foundational exploration of digital replication.
