🧪 Technology Microservices Simulation
Interactive microservices load-balancing simulator: watch an API gateway route a stream of requests to a cluster of backend instances using round-robin, least-connections, weighted or random dispatch, with live queue depth, latency and failover when instances go down.
This simulation demonstrates the architecture of microservices as a live queueing system: an API gateway receives a stream of incoming requests and must route each one to an independent backend instance that will process it and return a response, showcasing the core distributed-systems trade-offs that govern real production clusters. Switch between round-robin, least-connections, weighted and random dispatch policies to see how each behaves under load, drag the request-rate and service-time sliders to push individual instances into saturation, and kill instances outright to watch the gateway detect the outage, fail traffic away from the dead node, and rebalance the remaining load — while live throughput, latency and drop-rate readouts track exactly how the queueing math plays out in real time.
This simulation demonstrates the architecture of microservices. Users will build and manage independent services that communicate to fulfill a larger task, showcasing principles of distributed systems in a 2D context.
