This simulation explores swarm intelligence through the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm — a decentralized system where individual agents follow simple rules, yet the colony as a whole solves a hard optimization problem. A population of food sources sits on a live 3D fitness landscape (choose Rastrigin, Ackley or Sphere, each with a different number of local minima). Employed bees exploit their own source, onlooker bees reinforce the most promising ones by fitness-proportional selection, and scout bees abandon stagnant sources to explore fresh territory — exactly the exploit/explore/abandon cycle that makes swarm-based optimizers escape local minima where plain gradient descent gets stuck.
