Precision Irrigation Sensor Grid Simulator

Interactive precision-agriculture simulator: a scanning drone sweeps a soil-moisture sensor grid while variable-rate irrigation waters only the cells that need it, compared live against uniform blanket irrigation on crop health, water used and efficiency.

This simulator models a field as a grid of soil cells whose moisture drains through evapotranspiration and is topped up by rain and irrigation. A monitoring drone sweeps the grid strip by strip, mirroring how real IoT soil sensors or drone multispectral passes deliver readings one section at a time. Switch between variable-rate irrigation (VRI), which waters only the cells the sensor grid has just reported as dry, and traditional uniform blanket irrigation, which waters the whole field regardless of need — then compare crop health, total water used and water efficiency between the two strategies in real time.

⚙ Under the hood

Simulate a field grid where each cell represents soil moisture levels. A drone scans row-by-row, applying either uniform or variable-rate irrigation.
