Biochar Decay Field & Curve (2D Soil Cross-Section)
Interactive 2D counterpart to the 3D biochar decay simulator: a deterministic exponential-fade soil cross-section grid plus a live three-pool decomposition curve, independently computed from the same first-order kinetics and Q10 temperature scaling.
This 2D counterpart to the 3D biochar decay simulator replaces per-particle Monte-Carlo sampling with a deterministic continuous-fade field: a 1,080-cell soil cross-section where every cell belongs to one of three carbon pools (labile, intermediate, recalcitrant) and fades exactly along its pool's exponential decay curve, no randomized failure instant involved. Below the soil band a live chart plots the population-level decomposition curve — total and per-pool — with a moving cursor tracking the current simulated year, so you can watch the exact shape of the multi-pool kinetics your feedstock and soil-temperature choices produce. Adjust pyrolysis temperature and soil temperature to see how the pool split and the decay rates reshape both the fading grid and the curve beneath it.
