Privacy Policy
How we handle your data on MySimulator.uk
1. Overview
MySimulator.uk ("we", "our", "the site") is a free, open educational platform offering interactive browser-based physics, mathematics and nature simulations. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect, store or process personal data during normal site use. Specifically:
- No account or registration is required.
- No analytics tracking scripts (e.g. Google Analytics) are loaded.
- Simulations run entirely client-side — no simulation state is transmitted to us.
- We do not collect IP addresses, device fingerprints or browsing histories.
If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are submitted to Formspree (a third-party service) and forwarded to our team. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and do not share it with other parties.
3. Local Storage & Cookies
We use the browser's localStorage API (not traditional cookies) to remember your preferences locally on your device:
- Theme preference — dark / light mode setting.
- Recently visited simulations — stored locally to power the "Recent" list on the home page.
- Language preference — English or Ukrainian.
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. You can clear it at any time via your browser's developer tools or by clearing site data.
Google AdSense (see Section 5) may set cookies on your device. These are third-party cookies governed by Google's own privacy policy.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Formspree (Privacy Policy) — contact form processing.
- Google AdSense (Privacy Policy) — advertising. See Section 5.
- jsDelivr / unpkg CDN — delivers Three.js and other open-source libraries. These CDNs may log your IP address in standard server logs per their own policies.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
5. Advertising (Google AdSense)
MySimulator.uk uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other websites on the internet.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
For more information on how Google uses data when you use our site, see: How Google uses data from sites that use Google services.
6. Children's Privacy
Our simulations are designed to be educational for all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). If you believe a child has submitted personal data via our contact form, please contact us so we can delete it.
Parents and guardians should note that Google AdSense advertising is present on the site. We encourage parental supervision for younger users and recommend reviewing Google's advertising controls.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under applicable data protection law (e.g. GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA):
- Right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict or object to processing.
- Right to data portability.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time.
Since we collect virtually no personal data during normal site use, most of these rights apply only to contact form submissions. To exercise any right, email us at hello@mysimulator.uk.
8. Data Security
Our site is served over HTTPS. All simulations run entirely in your browser — no user data is transmitted to our servers. Contact form submissions are transmitted securely to Formspree via TLS.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
