Plesiosaur Lagoon Glide Lab (2D)
A 2D biomechanics lab: a pod of plesiosaurs powers through a lagoon on pulsed four-flipper thrust against quadratic hydrodynamic drag, hunting fish patches whose detection range shrinks as the water turns turbid, while a lagoon current pushes back against every stroke.
This 2D companion turns the plesiosaur's swimming into an explicit force balance you can tune from the side panel: pulsed four-flipper thrust versus quadratic hydrodynamic drag versus a lagoon current, with fish patches to chase whose visibility depends on how turbid the water is set. Raise the current and watch cruise speed and catch rate fall together as more of every stroke goes into holding a line rather than making progress; raise turbidity and the pod switches from direct dashes to slow search loops even though nothing about its swimming power has changed.
2D plesiosaur lagoon lab: pulsed four-flipper thrust (sin²-shaped stroke) fights quadratic hydrodynamic drag and a spatially varying lagoon-current field, while a turbidity slider shrinks the fish-detection radius each animal uses to find its next target.
