Germanium Recovery: Hydrometallurgical Process Lab (2D)

2D flowsheet model of germanium recovery from zinc-plant residues: Arrhenius leaching kinetics, tannin precipitation, redox-controlled chlorination and calcination, driven by four real process variables with a live mass-balance readout.

This 2D companion rebuilds the germanium-from-zinc-residue flowsheet as a real mass-balance model instead of a decorative 3D plant tour: four sliders drive Arrhenius leaching kinetics, Langmuir-type tannin precipitation, a redox-selectivity curve for chlorination and a fixed calcination yield, and a live readout panel tracks the dissolved germanium concentration, each stage's efficiency, the GeO₂ produced and the overall recovery percentage as the batch runs.

⚙ Under the hood

An 8-tonne batch of zinc-smelter residue at 300 g/t germanium grade is leached, precipitated with tannin, chlorinated and calcined; extraction and efficiency at each stage follow first-order kinetics, Langmuir saturation and a Gaussian redox-selectivity curve rather than fixed animation.
