Adaptive Telescope Optics (2D)

2D adaptive-optics lab: a deformable mirror with adjustable actuator count and correction bandwidth chases a moving atmospheric turbulence phase screen, with a live wavefront plot and a Strehl ratio computed from an actual diffraction sum.

This 2D companion drives the same adaptive-optics idea as the 3D version through a plain wavefront-and-diffraction view: a moving multi-harmonic phase screen stands in for atmospheric turbulence, a deformable mirror with an adjustable actuator count and correction bandwidth chases it in a closed loop, and a Strehl ratio computed from the real residual wavefront shows exactly how sharp the resulting star image is.

⚙ Under the hood

1D pupil phase screen (5 moving harmonics) vs. a piecewise-linear deformable-mirror fit; Strehl ratio and wavefront error come from a discrete Fraunhofer diffraction sum over the residual wavefront, not a lookup table.
