Turbulence φ Mirror φ (DM) Residual

Adaptive Telescope Optics (2D)

This 2D companion turns the same adaptive-optics problem into a readable wavefront-and-diffraction view: a moving multi-harmonic phase screen stands in for atmospheric turbulence, a deformable mirror with an adjustable number of actuators and correction bandwidth chases it in a closed loop, and a live Strehl ratio computed from the actual residual wavefront (via a discrete Fraunhofer diffraction sum) shows exactly how sharp the resulting star image is.
