Honey Bee Digestive System — 2D Cross-Section Lab

A flattened, schematic cross-section of a worker bee's gut: nectar cycles inside the honey crop, the proventriculus filters pollen from nectar, and particles shrink as nutrients are absorbed through the midgut — driven by the same flow model as the 3D lab.

This 2D companion drives the same gut-flow model as the 3D lab through a flat schematic view built for reading the physiology rather than orbiting a scene: the tube's local radius and colour follow position along the gut exactly as in the 3D revolved mesh, nectar particles recirculate inside the honey crop unless they fail the proventriculus's filter roll, pollen grains pass the valve and shrink visibly as enzymes digest them in the midgut, and a live readout panel tracks honey-crop fill, nutrients absorbed and waste expelled in real time so the effect of each slider is directly measurable, not just visible.

⚙ Under the hood

2D schematic cross-section of a worker bee's gut with the same peristalsis, crop-cycling, proventriculus-filtering and midgut-absorption model as the 3D lab, plus a live readout of crop fill, absorbed nutrients and expelled waste.
