Submarine Deep Dive: Ballast & Pressure Control (2D)
Trim ballast fill, dive planes and thrusters to control buoyancy and descent rate, watch ambient pressure climb with depth, and keep hull stress under the crush-depth limit.
This 2D companion to the 3D submarine scene turns the dive into a real control problem: ballast tank fill sets whether the sub is positively or negatively buoyant, dive planes trim descent rate once underway, and a thruster drives forward speed — while a live readout tracks depth, hydrostatic pressure and hull stress against a fixed crush-depth rating.
Vertical motion integrates net force from buoyancy (ρ·g·V), hull+ballast weight, dive-plane lift and drag each frame; pressure follows the hydrostatic formula P = P₀ + ρgh, and hull stress scales with depth against a 620 m crush-depth limit.
