Analyzing Projectile Paths

Projectile motion describes the movement of an object launched into the air, influenced solely by gravity and neglecting air resistance. Understanding this motion involves analyzing its initial velocity, trajectory, range, and maximum height – fundamental principles in physics.

Gravitational Force

The gravitational force is the attractive force between two objects with mass. It’s described by Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation: F = G * (m1 * m2) / r^2, where F is the force, G is the gravitational constant, m1 and m2 are the masses of the objects, and r is the distance between their centers.

This force causes objects to accelerate towards each other. The greater the mass of the objects and the smaller the distance between them, the stronger the gravitational force.

Thermal Gradients

Thermal gradients represent the rate of change in temperature over a distance. These gradients drive convection – the vertical movement of air due to differences in density caused by temperature variations.

Warm air is less dense and rises, while cool air is denser and sinks. This continuous cycle distributes heat around the globe.

Gravity & Mass

Gravity is defined as the force of attraction between objects with mass. The greater the mass of an object, the stronger its gravitational pull.

Mass is a fundamental property of matter and directly influences the magnitude of gravitational forces.

Relative Humidity = (Actual Vapor Content / Maximum Possible Vapor Content) * 100%

Air Movement

Air movement is essentially the movement of air from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. This movement is influenced by pressure gradients and the Coriolis effect.

The Coriolis effect, caused by Earth’s rotation, deflects moving objects (including wind) to the right in the Northern Hemisphere and left in the Southern Hemisphere.
