🦠 Pneumococcal Vaccine Protection — 3D
A genuine WebGL/Three.js companion to the 2D Pneumococcal Vaccine Protection Simulator: conjugate vs polysaccharide vaccine mechanism against S. pneumoniae, with host tissue, circulating bacteria, antibodies and the memory B-cell reservoir all in real, orbitable 3D space.
Why render vaccine protection in 3D
The 2D original stages a flat canvas of drifting bacteria, antibodies and a memory-cell box. This companion keeps the exact same five-stage model and metrics — antibody titer peaking at 920 U/mL (conjugate) or 580 U/mL (polysaccharide) with 0.6%/month or 2.5%/month decay, a memory B-cell pool of 1,450 or 180 cells, and IPD risk reduction peaking at 89% or 57% — but places host tissue, circulating pneumococcus serotypes, IgG antibodies, helper T-cells and the memory reservoir as real objects in 3D space that you can orbit and zoom.
In the Pathogen Challenge stage, antibodies genuinely chase down bacteria covered by the active vaccine's serotype set through 3D space and neutralize them after three hits, exactly mirroring the 2D targeting logic. In the Outcome stage, a population grid of host icons turns green in the same proportion as the computed risk reduction. Switch between Conjugate (PCV) and Polysaccharide (PPSV23) and slide time since vaccination to watch titer, memory and protection wane at their true, distinct rates.
