Room Acoustic Modes 2D — Standing Waves Visualiser

Canvas2D companion to the room-modes visualiser: pick from 30 rectangular-room resonances, resize the room, and watch the pressure field oscillate as a live colour map.

This 2D companion draws the same standing-wave pressure field p = cos(nx·π·x/Lx)·cos(ny·π·y/Ly)·cos(ωt) as the 3D version, rendered as a plain Canvas2D colour map instead of a WebGL shader. Sliders resize the room and change the speed of sound, a grid of buttons selects any of the 30 lowest resonant modes sorted by frequency, and dashed nodal lines plus a draggable source marker show where each mode is loud or silent.

⚙ Under the hood

Canvas2D pressure-field renderer using the rectangular-room eigenfrequency formula f = (c/2)·√((nx/Lx)²+(ny/Ly)²), with axial/tangential mode classification and a Schroeder-frequency estimate.
