Magnetic Pulley Separator: Induced-Angle Sorting (2D)
A 2D side-view model of a magnetic head-pulley separator: magnetic grains cling to the rotating drum against centrifugal force and release late (short throw), while non-magnetic gangue releases early and flies further into a separate bin.
This 2D companion models the same magnetic-pulley mechanism as the 3D version from the side: a force balance at the drum decides when each grain lets go — magnetic grains stay attached longer against centrifugal force and drop close to the pulley, while non-magnetic gangue releases early and is thrown further, landing in a separate bin.
Release angle is solved per-particle from a centripetal force balance (gravity + magnetic hold vs. required centripetal force), so grade and recovery emerge from actual simulated landings rather than a fixed formula.
