Butterfly Flight: Flapping-Wing Lift Model (2D)
2D flapping-wing flight lab: lift and thrust are derived from the wing's own angular velocity through the stroke, combined with gravity, drag and wander into a fluttery, nectar-seeking flight path.
This 2D companion strips the same flapping-wing flight model the 3D scene uses down to a plain side-view canvas built for reading the physics rather than orbiting a scene: a side panel exposes flap speed, wander strength, wing lift efficiency and butterfly count, a live readout tracks the lead butterfly's flap rate, instantaneous lift force, altitude and feeding-visit count, and a small wander → seek → feed state machine sends each butterfly hunting across a strip of flowers — so the same wing-stroke-driven lift and thrust equations that power the 3D scene are directly visible here as a fluttering, non-ballistic flight path instead of implied by a rendered wing mesh.
