Canine MER Calculator: 3D Energy-Flow Simulator
Orbit a full 3D scene as a dog's resting and maintenance energy requirement build from body weight — the same RER/MER formulas from the 2D calculator, now driving real 3D towers, a multiplier gauge and a food bowl.
A dog's daily calorie needs start from a single metabolic-scaling formula, RER = 70×bodyweight0.75, and this simulation renders that number as a real 3D object rather than a flat readout: an amber tower rising from the ground plane, its height driven directly by the same equation used in the 2D calculator. Beside it, a teal tower shows the Maintenance Energy Requirement — RER multiplied by a life-stage and activity factor you control with a slider — so the two towers let you see the multiplier's effect as a literal height difference you can walk around. A partial ring gauge tracks that multiplier from sedentary through working-dog territory, and a food bowl fills to the portion size in cups once you set a food's energy density, closing the loop from body weight to bowl. A low-poly dog model scales gently with the weight slider so the whole scene stays anchored to a recognizable subject. Drag to orbit the full 3D space and scroll to zoom, the same way you would with any real three-dimensional lab instrument.
