CT Scanner: Sinogram & Filtered Back-Projection (2D)

A real Radon-transform sinogram fills in live as simulated X-ray projections sweep 0-180°, with a toggle between unfiltered and ramp-filtered (Ram-Lak) back-projection to see why real scanners need the filter.

This 2D companion runs the same underlying math as the 3D CT lab — a Radon-transform projection at each scan angle, stacked into a sinogram and back-projected into a reconstruction — but adds a genuine ramp filter (Ram-Lak kernel) toggle so you can compare plain back-projection's characteristic blur against filtered back-projection's sharper result, plus a projection-angle-count slider that shows real under-sampling streak artifacts as you reduce it.

⚙ Under the hood

Real Radon-transform projections stacked into a sinogram; back-projection with an optional Ram-Lak ramp filter (discrete spatial-domain convolution) rebuilds the cross-section, with an angle-count slider exposing under-sampling artifacts.
