2D companion to the 3D apiary lab: build a weighted selection index across four traits, watch truncation selection pick the top ~20% of colonies as breeders, and bank their genetics across generations.
This 2D companion runs the same breeder's-equation genetics as the 3D version on a plain canvas grid: 64 hives are colored red-to-green by their live selection index, the top ~20% ring gold and beam toward an insemination station, and clicking a hive shows its four raw trait scores. Advancing a generation nudges every colony's traits toward the breeders' mean by heritability h²=0.35 plus small mutation, and banks a frozen vial per generation in the gene-bank strip along the bottom.
