Energy Shield: Hexagonal Impact Deflection (2D)
2D energy-shield lab: a hex-tiled barrier absorbs strikes with a logistic regeneration curve, expanding ripple wavefronts trace each impact, and the shield overloads and recovers once its energy is depleted.
This 2D companion trades the original's orbiting WebGL shader for a flat, top-down hex-grid view built for reading the mechanics: a logistic regeneration curve restores shield energy after every hit (faster the further it has drained), each strike launches a traveling ripple wavefront away from its impact point exactly like the 3D shader's distance-vs-wave-radius ring math, and driving energy to zero triggers a short overload window where the shield stops absorbing and visibly flashes red before it comes back online. Four sliders — regen rate, impact drain, auto-impact interval and hex density — plus a manual Strike button and click-to-strike on the shield itself let you push the energy budget past its breaking point on purpose.
