Dry Mouth & Cavity Risk — 3D Salivary Buffering Simulator (3D)
The same causal chain as the 2D lab — reduced salivary flow, weaker bicarbonate buffering, a slower Stephan-curve pH recovery and accelerated caries formation — rendered as a real 3D gland, duct, oral pool and tooth you can orbit and zoom around.
This 3D companion carries the exact same salivary-buffering biology as the 2D Dry Mouth & Cavity Risk lab: a salivary flow reduction slider and a sugar exposure frequency slider drive the same flow-rate, buffering-capacity, pH-critical-time and caries-rate formulas, and the same Stephan-curve chemistry governs how plaque pH crashes after a meal and recovers toward neutral. Instead of a flat canvas view, the gland, duct, oral fluid pool and a real molar model are built as genuine Three.js geometry lit with directional, hemisphere and point lights, so you can drag to orbit the camera around a stream of saliva and buffer-ion particles flowing from the gland into the pool, watch calcium and phosphate ions drift toward the enamel surface, and see the plaque pH plotted live as an actual 3D line graph against a critical-pH threshold plane. A demineralization gauge fills as net mineral loss accumulates, and every time it completes a red burst marks a new cavity pit permanently added to the tooth surface. A third slider — fluoride / remineralization support — adds the well-documented clinical effect of fluoride slowing caries progression without touching the underlying salivary pH chemistry, letting you directly compare protected and unprotected outcomes.
3D companion to the Dry Mouth Cavity Risk lab: a real gland, duct, oral pool and tooth model you orbit around, with a live 3D pH curve and demineralization gauge tracing the same salivary-buffering math.
