IoT Botnet Infection & DDoS (2D)
2D top-down ring diagram of a Mirai-style IoT botnet: watch a worm scan for default-credential devices, spread infection to nearby neighbours, and flood a target server with DDoS traffic — then patch devices to shrink the botnet back down.
This 2D companion drives the same Mirai-style infection model as the 3D version through a flat top-down ring diagram: devices sit at fixed angles around a central target server, a worm probes weak-credential (yellow) devices and turns them red once infected, infected devices spread to nearby neighbours on the ring, and firmware patching (blue) permanently removes a device from the pool. Launching the DDoS draws live traffic lines from every infected device to the target and drives its load bar past capacity — the same scan-rate/patch-rate trade-off real network operators manage, now visible at a glance instead of requiring an orbit.
2D ring diagram of a Mirai-style IoT botnet: exponential infection and patch probabilities per tick, neighbour-based spread around the ring, and a live target-load model driven by currently-infected device count during a DDoS.
